Written by William Shakespeare, and directed by Miss Laura J, the writer and director of our recent smash hit Les Miserables The Memoirs of Jean Valjean, this is a full-length, original language adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, set in 1860s Brixham, in a conflict between two families, the Capulets of Higher Brixham (Cowtown) and the Montagues of Lower Brixham (Fishtown).

Wed 23rd April - Spring garden demonstrations at Coleton Fishacre

Join the garden team for a series of talks and demonstrations throughout the day covering all aspects of spring gardening, including propagation and seed sowing. Free event. Sat 26th and Sun 27th April - Beginners Bird Identification Course

A beginner to intermediate level course to improve your bird identification skills with local expert Mike Langman. This two day course corresponding with the busy spring migration period of the year will be a mixture of indoor and outdoor activities. The first day concentrating on visual identification, bird families, taking notes, birdwatching resources and optical equipment and of course putting it all into practice in the field. Up to 80% of ‘birdwatching' in a woodland is using your ears so day two will be learning to identifying birds by calls and song. During the afternoon we will be making the most of Berry Head National Nature Reserve with a short introduction into how to watch and identify seabirds. There will be a follow up intermediate to advanced Bird Identification course in the Autumn. Meet: Berry Head National Nature Reserve main car park. Time: 10am – 4pm. Cost: £55.00 per person. Sat 26th and Sun 27th April - Intermediate Breadmaking

A two-day workshop for those with some experience of breadmaking and looking to expand their repertoire. We will revise the basics before exploring different flours and techniques with the use of yeast (fresh and dried), starters and overnight rising – showing how the flavours of loaves can be altered. Loaves and doughs covered on this course with Sourdough, Brioche, Rye, Fougasse and Pizza. You will leave with baskets of delicious breads along with the confidence to try new methods at home. Workshop led by Lucy Croose, who studied with expert baker Andrew Whitely, author of Bread Matters, founder of the Village Bakery and co-founder of the Real Bread Campaign. Wed 30th April to Thu 1st May - Short Course - Introduction to Marine Ecology and Conservation 

This two-day course gives participants an overview of marine ecology and conservation. Participants have the chance to work towards gaining an accredited unit that covers marine and coastal ecology, species identification, sustainable management, monitoring environmental changes and marine and coastal legislation. The course is delivered by Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust who have over a decade of experience in working in marine policy, conservation and education. This course is accredited. Meet: Occombe Farm. Time: 9.30am – 5.00pm.

Every day from 1st May until 31st Aug- Great Occombe Monster Hunt!

Kids, come on a monstrous wild adventure this year at Occombe Farm. Wild monsters with pointed fangs, hairy bodies, gnarly skin and gruesome eating habits are lurking in the woods at Occombe Farm and they only have one thing on their mind - protecting their most precious treasure! Every month a new wild monster will appear and your mission is to find it by crossing swamps, balancing on logs, dipping in ponds and hunting in trees to find its hiding spot on the nature trail. Find the monster and you will be rewarded with a sticker and a prize, plus the code to unlock a map to help you find the next monster. Collect all four monsters and you will gain the powers to reveal where their most precious treasure is and gain a very special prize! There will also be fun wild monster activities happening at the farm every weekend throughout the summer - look on our website for more details www.countryside-trust.org.uk. Sat 3rd May - Dawn Chorus & Spring Arrivals

Join local bird expert Mike Langman at Berry Head at his favourite spring location for a dawn chorus. The headland should be alive with birds just back from a winter in Africa desperately announcing their territories and hoping to attract a mate. There may even be the chance of something special being found in early May. The frenetic Guillemot colony will be noisy with birds coming and going from their nesting ledges. The very best time to hear bird song and to witness migration in full swing is at sunrise, so it will be an early start. This event is part of International Dawn Chorus Day. The event will be finished off with a delicious breakfast at The Guardhouse Cafe, Berry Head. Breakfast with the full Monty, tea or coffee, toast, butter & homemade marmalade. Tour the River Dart by canoe with the National Trust countryside rangers. This exciting new event is perfect for all abilities - canoes and an instructor are provided. Brixham Museum Family History Group

Come and trace your family history. We will help you in your quest to locate your ancestors, access to all England and Wales Censuses, plus more! Family history books sold. Family History Group meet every other Thursday 7pm to 9pm.

Donations for the museum for these services are as follows:

£10 for Museum members. £12 for non-members per session.

Researching on your behalf for your ancestors and family members: £20 per family for a maximum of 2 hours (£10 an hour thereafter, if required). The Island Club, situated in the Baptist Church Hall, by Brixham's bus station and taxi rank, is now open on Friday evenings 6.15 - 7.15pm for children (school year's 3-6) and 7.30pm - 9pm for youth, with further possibilities being considered for the future.

It costs just 50p for children and £1 for youth with everything inside then free (except the tuck of course)! With the club set to attract large numbers, young people are encouraged to register soon to ensure their place.

Was founded in 2007.
Argentinean tango is an improvisatory dance. At Vida de Tango classes they will use exercise to encourage improvisation from an early stage as well showing short sequences of steps to grasp a concept. They provide to the students tools to understand the principles that govern each movement. They create exercises that enable to them to experience something first, and then reflect on it. All this surrounded by a young, friendly learning environment!
