BrixFest 2012

This new 3 day event runs from Saturday 2nd June to Monday 4th June 2012 and replaces the Brixham Heritage Festival which stopped last year.

Primitive Tools Workshop
Saturday 4 February
Have you ever wanted to know how primitive humans made their survival tools? Have you ever heard of Flint Knapping? Join expert Karl Lee for a hands on workshop to learn how to make primitive tools by working flint. Suitable for all ages, children must be over 8 years and accompanied by an adult.
Note: please bring an old towel to cover your legs when working flint; do not wear shorts, sandals or skirts.

Come along and make some simple bird feeders to help your garden birds through the last of the winter.

Jupiter, Mars and the Winter Sky
Saturday 18 February
Enjoy a night under the glorious winter sky with astronomer Chris Proctor. We will explore Venus, Jupiter and Mars and sights including the Great Orion Nebula and the Andromeda Galaxy, hot drink in hand. Wrap up well, it will be cold! If cloudy we will enjoy a presentation in the visitor centre.

Greenway by Twilight
Exclusively for Torbay Coast and Countryside Trust members
Tuesday 28 February
Unravel the secrets of Agatha Christie's world with a fascinating ‘behind the scenes' tour of Greenway House by twilight.  Get a feel for the house she described as ‘the loveliest place in the world'.  The tour will be followed by tea and cake in the cosy Greenway kitchen.
Meet:  Greenway House, parking in main car park (tbc)
Time:  6pm - 8pm
Cost:  £10 to Trust members

Aspects of Nature

3 March – 15 April, 10.30am – 5pm

Greenway

An exhibition of paintings and limited editions from one of the country's leading colourists, Charles Summers. Inspired by the natural world, Charles Summers has received awards from the Royal Horticultural Society and his work is collected internationally. His exhibition at Greenway is not to be missed!

This is a free exhibition, normal admission prices to Greenway apply.

 

Tea Time Talks

9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25, 30 March, 1 April, 3.30pm – 5pm

Greenway

A series of tea time talks on interesting subjects such as the project leading up to the opening of Greenway, High Cross House and The Garden House. With speakers including Robyn Brown, project manager and now general manager of the National Trust English Riviera. Each talk will be followed by tea and cake in the cosy house kitchen.

Camellia Walks

Come along and see the lovely spring colour in Greenways woodland garden in the company of our fact-filled gardeners.

Join the knowledgeable Greenway gardeners to see the emerging colours of spring after the long winter. Learn about the history of Greenway's beautiful spring flowering plants in detail and enjoy a delicious warming soup in the cafe and the opportunity to chat with the gardeners over lunch.

Woodland Crafts Workshop

Join us again for this hugely popular course, as we host another two day introduction to Woodland Crafts; working with our rangers to look at making gate hurdles, trellis, woodturning and cleaving. Develop skills that you might have only read about in books, as this really is a unique opportunity to learn these old crafts.
