St. Mary's Mixed Triples final a great success.

On a beautiful summer's day last Sunday, the Bill Harris mixed triples bowls final was held at St. Mary's bowling club in Brixham.

This popular event now in its 23rd year, was an excellent day out for everyone, with club members providing refreshments and a splendid lunch to keep the bowlers happy. After the two qualifying heats in June the final was eagerly anticipated.

48 players in teams of 3 came from bowling clubs in South Devon to play 3 rounds in the final. Starting at 9.30 am each match lasted one and a halve hours. By the time the last match was finished at 6.30 all 36 games had been played on the six rinks. With teams getting points for each winning match the winners came from the last set of games in a tight finish.

The Bill Harris Shields and £60.00 first prize each was presented by Neil Ford the club chairman to Brian Smith, Val Northall and Tony Hodgin.

Second prize of £40 each went to J. Davenport, F. Vaughan and D. Barber. With third prizes of £30 each to P. Marshall, W. Ceary and A. Conway.
