Royal Torbay Yacht Club Juniors put in outstanding performances in all 3 fleets at the 2011 RS Feva World Championships in Bruinisse Holland.

With a fleet of 160 boats t he first two days of Qualifying where sailed in some extremely testing conditions with heavy winds gusting to 30 Knots+ which saw many teams retiring due to breakages or just from shear exhaustion, however some of the heavier teams lapped up the conditions while Torquay's Jovian Short and James Barlow shot to the top of the leader board as they stormed through the finish line in 1st place in the in all three races on the first day.

There where also very strong performances from Sarah Hussey & Andy Briely,  Jacob & Emma Barnett  who consistently racked up top ten results in the heavy winds during qualifying, but  as the winds dropped off  the lighter boat crews where once more in favour so it was all change places with the final results for RTYC Juniors in the Prestigious  Gold Fleet as follows:  Morgan Peach & Herbie Harford, 7th , Jacob & Emma Barnet 15th , Jovian Short & James Barlow 20th & Sarah Hussey & Andy Briely  in 39th place overall.

In The silver fleet, RTYC's Ollie Wright and Luke McDermott looked set for greatness as they commanded the lead finishing in  1st place in the first two races of the day in the Silver fleet , but  damage to the boats rudder forced them in to retirement , while  Sisters ‘Sophie & Lucy Caseldine  from Stoke Gabriel  sailed consistently  through out the week  to achieve 2nd place podium spot over all in the Silver Fleet .

In the Bronze Fleet Youngest team members Max age 13 & his 10 year old Brother Cody from Brixham  led the  fleet in 1st position in some very testing sailing conditions, managing to f inish every race in the series in spite  of the conditions but where  knocked out of the 1st place podium spot on the last day  by Royal Torbay Yacht Club team members, Sisters ‘Jess  &  Emma  Scourfielld who started the week with a disastrous two days in qualifying but managed to claw there way back and achieved 2 bullets on the last day of racing that secured the girls a well earned  1st Place & the Top podium spot Overall in Bronze , closely followed by Max & Cody missing out on the 2nd place podium spot by only 3points finishing in 4th  place overall.

All in all, The juniors from Team Torbay showed there strengths and dominated the leader boards in all three fleets every day at this prestigious  world class championship event that is seen as a launch pad for top Olympic Yachtsman!
