Brixham U8s vs Tamworth U8s Sunday

Brixham 6 Tamworth 11

A bright sunny morning for this touring side fixture. Tamworth started strong and remained in control for the match, showing strong runners and good handling skills. Brixham were suffering from a few too many Easter eggs at the start and conceded a couple of early tries, but Marley Tyler was quick to put the Fishermen on the sheet with a great solo run. The half evened up with scores going in turn to make it 4 – 2 to the visitors at the break, Ben Mortimer the other scorer finishing out wide after a team move down the back line.

The second half continued the same with Tamworth showing strong running skills and Brixham just not managing to finish moves at the last, Mortimer claimed his second and was followed by Jamie Dewhirst who showed determination to get to the line. McKee was unlucky after breaking and drawing the defence on several occasions not to find the finishing pass to close the scores. Tyler continued scoring form and after two more runs claimed his hatrick, alas the visitors outplayed the Fishermen to claim an 11 – 6 victory.

The Brixham boys never gave up the chase and Alfie Jarvis was awarded man of the match for good support running and all round determination.

A similar pattern started the next game with Tamworth going into an early lead, Jamie Dewhirst claimed Brixham's only score of the half to leave them trailing 3 – 1 at the break in a reduced time fixture. Brixham took stronger control in the second half as they finally started to work some moves together, firstly Alfie Jarvis went over after strong running from Stuart Crang followed by a brace from Tyler showing speed and good footwork to confuse the defence. Harry Williams finished off the scoring for Brixham pouncing on a loose ball over the line after Harry Davies ran at the defence to create the chance, but it was just too late for Brixham to pull back the first half deficit.

Man of the Match was awarded to Jake Cox for his defensive running and never giving up the chase.
