An invitation
from Brixham...
A exclusive Brixham
Trade Day will be taking place in a truly unusual location next
Monday (12th July) organised by the Brixham
Tourism Partnership. The event is being held aboard
the Golden Hind throughout the day, from 10am till 4pm. It's
the perfect opportunity to meet Brixham traders and pick up
leaflets and more information about the wealth of attractions,
events and activities on offer. |
| A special free ferry
will be running from Princess Pier in Torquay to Brixham every
45 minutes throughout the day, kindly provided by Greenway Ferry
and Pleasure Cruises. Simply mention you are a member of the tourism
industry. The event will also double as a special launch for the
brand new 2010 Brixham Map. |

Heritage Museum
Brixham Heritage Museum
is putting together a display featuring women's achievements
in Brixham in a variety of fields, including politics, writing,
industry and supporting the fishing. Many also contributed
in other ways during the wars, or starting clubs such as swimming,
crafts or others.
We have discussed
the terminology and ideas to make it clear that we also want
to include ordinary women who worked alongside their menfolk
- rope-making, net-making, fish selling and preparing, etc.
We would be interested
to receive any information or photos relating to suffragette
Annie Kenney's visit to Brixham in 1910, and poets Priscilla
Shrives and Annie Tolcher.

A
Life Remembered
One of Brixham's last
generation of door delivery milkmen has died after a short illness.
Cyril Brice at one time ran a fleet of four vehicles delivering
bottled milk to many of the town's homes.
He was also well-known
for the fruit, vegetables and flowers he grew on land at Berry
Head and behind his home in Castor Road.
