Torbay Labour Party has announced that Paul Raybould has been chosen as the party’s candidate for the General Election on June 8th.
Speaking after he was announced as Labour’s candidate Paul said, “Torbay needs an MP that cares about all of its residents. An MP that cares about our NHS, our schools and public services and an MP that will protect local government from further under-funding.
“Our local economy needs high skilled and well paid jobs and support for the re-generation of our town centres. We also need ambitious plans to bring forward housing that is affordable in both the rented and buyers markets.
“Only a Labour Government can bring an equal and fair society to replace the morally redundant Conservatives. That is why every vote for Labour on June 8th will be a vote for the many, not the few.”
Paul is 54 years old and has lived in Torquay for 45 years. He has two children, one attends Plymouth College of Arts and the other is at Combe Pafford School. Paul was educated locally, attending South Devon College and then Torbay School of Nursing where he trained to be a nurse.
Paul was a nurse at Torbay Hospital for 25 years where he worked in the day surgery unit.
Presently Paul is branch secretary of the Torbay branch of the GMB Union and also secretary of the Torbay TUC. He is also a member of both the South West TUC and GMB Regional Council.Follow
