Thanks to record concert takings, Brixham Rotary Club raised over £1600 which has helped with start-up equipment, including tents, to support the forty five, Year 9 College students who have enrolled to work on a Bronze Duke of Edinburgh programme.
The concert featured Brixham Town Band, Brixham College Big Band and sea shanty crew, “Missin’ Tackle” who all gave their services for free. The event took place in the Brixham Theatre.
David Sharpe, concert organiser and Brixham Rotary Club Fundraising Chairman said: “This is our fourth year of concerts and we are thrilled that it was a sell-out. We wanted to support the youth of our town and the people of Brixham helped us to do that. Thank you.”
John Burt is President of Brixham Rotary Club and says: “It was a fabulous evening and we are grateful to all who helped us, including sponsors, performers and concert-goers.”
“Equipment to help youngsters who are undertaking the Duke of Edinburgh award is a great cause and we are pleased to be able to support Brixham Community College.”
