The current total raised for Rowcroft was £13,090 by the Charity Bike Ride Team which took 32 hours including food stops and breaks but actual riding time was 24 hours!
Community Fundraising Manager, Hayley Norrish commented: “We are incredibly grateful to the whole team for completing this amazing cycle challenge and raising such an incredible amount for people and families living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon. On behalf of everyone at Rowcroft I would like to thank you all so much for all you’ve done to support the hospice, and now hope you enjoy some well-deserved rest!”
Groom Greg Laywood commented: “This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. It’s not the physical miles that break you it’s the ‘mental’ challenge. This is why the support, locally and on the road, was so important and better than any tailwind. It spurred us on and gave us the drive we needed to keep going through the night, in the rain, knowing we still a long way to go on zero sleep.”
Key supporter and fundraiser Carla Laywood commented: “We are overwhelmed by the generosity and support we have received. We have surpassed our initial target by miles, miles painstakingly ridden by the ‘magnificent Seven’ all in aid of Rowcroft Hospice. We’d like to thank Thompson Bikes UK and TMVR (Torbay Motor vehicle Repair) for their support on the ride, our team of organisers and most importantly everyone for their generous donations that will make such a huge difference to a lot of families!”
Best man Grant Laywood commented: “In hindsight it would have been a lot easier to have booked him a wedding car! Jokes aside this has been an amazing challenge and one, after the aches and pains wear off, we will look back and treasure! Riding to your brothers wedding with an awesome group of guys being able to donate so much money to Rowcroft is amazing…well worth it!”
Bride Kelly Newman commented: “I am so so proud of Greg and what they have all achieved. I can’t wait to walk down the aisle and enjoy the wedding that has taken them 415 gruelling miles to get to! He has definitely earn’t my hand!”Follow
