Scorching morning and a scorching performance from Brixham U15s, The teams over the seasons have been closely matched however Brixham have normally come out on top. Today was no different however the clinical finishing and handling of the backline was the impressive point of today, as always set up by the strong forward contingent but the spread of play today was impressive and well finished by a fresh set of backs.
Brixham soon moved into the lead and unlike previous fixtures started strongly, a point that had been worked on in training, a resolute defence from Paignton could however not compete out wide as the Brixham backs cut into the defence, tries were forthcoming from Ed Simpson, Jason Capaldi with a first half brace and Harry Davies who put one in for the forwards powering through the middle. Brad McKee who spent his day dictating the play converted all four including one impressive nudge from the touchline.
Half time Paignton 0-28 Brixham
Brixham continued in the same game plan and although Paignton continued to press with the ball Brixham again took over the majority of the half, Brixham forwards were keen to get in on the action and as Harry Davies and Joss Greenway both powered over the line from close in to move further into the lead they clearly were making the required effort, McKee kicked one out of the two then hung up his kicking boots for the day after an impressive display.
Jason Capaldi was clearly not done on the day as the speedy centre finished two more tries to complete his day with four, Matt Cripps showed power to complete a forward drive for another and a stunning effort from prop Dylan Griffiths finished the Brixham scoring with an incredible return from a kick off working his way at pace through all who stood in his way. Winger Matt Selman converted two from four to bring the Brixham scoring to a finish. Paignton who never gave up all game and agreed to continue after the 50 point barrier as Brixham blooded new players had what was to be their best spell of the game and attacked the Brixham line, after a series of penalties they were unlucky not to score but a Brixham turnover and kick to touch finished what was a well competed game despite the score line.
