NRS Healthcare today announced the forthcoming launch of their innovative advice and information service Safe+Well™ in Torbay. This service will be supported by accredited pharmacists and local retailers who are well established within the bay and provide a high quality service to people in Torbay.
The new service intends to provide a one-stop solution to people buying daily living aids, helping them become more independent and safer at home. Rachel Seabrook, Clinical Lead for NRS Healthcare explains:
‘It is really important for older and disabled people to have a trusted place where they can go for advice, information and the purchase of daily living aids. The Safe+Well™ website acts as a hub for local services which can provide this level of support.’
Residents of the Torbay area can visit www.safeandwell.co.uk/torbay to:
- Complete a simple questionnaire guiding them to daily living aids which may assist them at home – for example an extra seat on the toilet to make it easier to get on and off or a special stool in the kitchen so they can have a rest when preparing food.
- Talk to an experienced, professional advisor (Occupational Therapist) about the difficulties they may be having and receive advice on any equipment.
- Find out where to “try and buy” daily living aids locally
NRS Healthcare will also be looking to engage local charities and the voluntary sector in Torbay, as Rachel further explained:
‘We would be glad to hear from any local voluntary sector organisations who would like their staff to be trained to recognise when daily living aids may help the people they come into contact with. We could provide this training for them.’
Local retailers, Cavendish Health Care and New Ability are also linked to the scheme – these are experienced and trustworthy people who can give advice locally and where local residents can “try before they buy”. Safe+Well™ is also supported by Torbay Council and is offered to residents in the bay.
Torbay Council’s Executive Lead for Adults and Children, Councillor Julien Parrott, said:
‘I am looking forward to this provision making a difference to the lives of people living in Torbay. It’s important that people have a choice on how they lead their lives and access the resources they need. I hope this scheme will do this and enable local residents to choose which aids will help them to live more independently.’
