The South Devon Railway’s ever popular Models and Miniatures event is taking place once again this weekend (10th – 11th June 2017), providing entertainment and fascination for all ages.
Boasting a bigger and better event than ever before, there will be displays at all the scenic seven-mile line’s stations, including miniature traction engines and other road vehicles, model boats, scale model trains, a miniature railway and garden railway (subject to weather) and large indoor displays too – as well as regular full size steam train operations too.
There will be an indoor exhibition area at Staverton station, featuring award winning model railway layouts along with other British and continental layouts. In addition, there will also be a display of model lifeboats and fishing boats and a display by members of Brixham Model Engineers.
Totnes Riverside station will be home to displays of model buses and trains and also the collection of 0 gauge models which are permanently based there.
At Buckfastleigh, the garden railway and miniature railway will both be in operation (weather permitting), with a visiting engine and two train running on the miniature railway. Amongst other attractions, there will be scale model traction engines moving around the site and Plymouth Model Boat Engineers will again be displaying their fabulous scale models.
Railway manager, Chris Williams, said: “The Models & Miniatures event draws all ages and all interests. The quality of many of the models on display has to be seen to be believed. It’s a great way to spend a day and many of our visitors go away positively inspired to take up model making!”
The SDR’s steam trains are running all weekend with the first departure at 09.25 from Buckfastleigh, where there is ample free car parking.Follow
