Well, we’ve reached that time of year again when we many people are getting ready for the holidays and are preparing to celebrate!
Christians centuries ago chose December 25th to celebrate the birth of Christ, although from reading the Bible many scholars have determined Jesus’s birth to be nearer September!
Nevertheless ‘Christ’s Mass’ or Christmas is a time when Christians remember their Saviour entering the world, believing that God became man in Bethlehem, on a mission to later die on a cross for each and everyone in His creation, in order that they might be reconnected with their Creator in Heaven.
Today with so much focus on Santa some people wonder why we still call it Christmas? Presents and traditions connected to Santa have become very important, although Santa only fully emerged as a character in the Victorian Poem the ‘Night Before Christmas’. Whilst Santa brings Christmas gifts, some of Santa’s toys and presents may be neglected after a few days, or even recycled! Having said that we hope everyone gets presents this Christmas that they are able to enjoy and as people are unwrapping carefully chosen gifts, some will also be celebrating receiving the special gift of everlasting life that Jesus promises to all that love Him…so Happy Christmas to everyone!
Santa or Christ for Christmas?
Who is Santa, is he actually real?
Was Christ the ultimate Christmas deal?
For each year there are so many men dressed in red?
But there was only one Jesus who lay on that straw bed.
Does Santa really have a long white beard?
Did angels sing, whilst shepherds feared?
Just how many presents each year can Santa really bring?
Jesus only received three gifts, when He was proclaimed the newborn King?
And it’s strange each year how Santa appears and disappears around the earth,
Yet Jesus also vanished and reappeared following His unique birth.
Some believe Santa lives at the North Pole making toys throughout the year,
Jesus started by making items from wood, before people began to hear,
That He had come to heal their pain and reunite them with their Creator,
To help them birth greater loving hearts and replace their fearful nature.
Because forgetting their loving God, many had sadly turned away,
Not realizing that they need His LOVE, to live out every single day!
That’s why Jesus died and rose again, to allow a brand new start,
For everyone who decides to follow Him and ask Him, into their heart.
And with the promise of everlasting life, love, joy and freedom from all fear,
Why not remind Santa when you make your requests this year,
That not only has he plenty of gifts he can bring your way,
But Jesus too, has a special one for you to share in each and every day!
