Ian Gardner’s band Nine Pound Catfish return to provide footstompin’ good-time blues and hokum http://www.ninepoundcatfish.co.uk/listen-here.html this Thursday at the Maritime Inn, Brixham.
The Exeter trio, in which Ian is joined by Graham Butterfield on guitar, mandolin, banjo and vocals and Jane Gardner on washboard and percussion, proves that within the wide blues spectrum there is plenty of toe-tapping fun tunes and rousing jug band music.
Stuart Cumberpatch, half of the resident duo Devon Delta (along with Robert Spence, harp & vocals) and organiser of BBT2 (Brixham Blues 2nd Thursday) says: “We’ve featured many celebrated blues artists from all over Britain this year and are attracting more and more talented blues musicians such as Norfolk Slim, Perry Foster, Gareth Hedges, Chris Frost, Josie Lloyd, Alan Hooper and Clive Sheard. This means that our lucky audiences get to enjoy not only the headline performers but also drop-in appearances by some of South Devon’s best exponents of the blues.
“And we’re always delighted to offer floor spots to newcomer blues performers.”
