This was the first time that the English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC) organised and hosted a group of prominent journalists from China which included representative from the VisitBritain Chinese Office last week.
The ERTC continue to work closely with Visit Devon, Visit England and VisitBritain to facilitate international media visits to the English Riviera.
Enjoying the trip were Ms. Luo Yi (Qyer.com); Ms Ding RuiYan & Ms Wu QiWei ( Elite Traveller); Mr Ke WenHao ( Bund-Shop) PLUS Eva Shen from VisitBritain Chinese office.
This elite group has a massively powerful reach across Social Media with a combined 4 million followers and and 8 page feature article will also be written about the trip in Elite Traveller.
The journalists were accompanied by Alex Graeme from Unique Devon Tours and visitied a number of local attractions including a private guided tour of Kent’s Cavern pre-historic caves, Babbacombe Model Vilage and Greenway.
Nick Powe, Director of Kents Cavern said: “International press visits are vital to the future of our industry. Given the vast size of the global visitor market the opportunities for step-change in Torbay’s tourism economy must stand a better chance from targeting overseas, and China in particular.”
Carolyn Custerson, Chief Executive of the ERTC said: ” Over the past 5 years the ERTC has worked hard to raise the international profile of the English Riviera brand and now has the highest percentage of international visitors compared to any other part of Devon. The forecast for further growth in international markets with exciting opportunities for local tourism businesses to develop new and inspiring world class international Visitor Experiences such has already happened at Kent’s Cavern as part of the 33 UNESCO Global Geopark network to attract more international visitors to the English Riviera.”
