The Devon Association of Tourist Attractions is pleased to announce that Exeter Cathedral has joined the Association and has become one of Devon’s Top 40 Attractions.
In order to qualify as a member, the Cathedral had to go through a rigorous inspection process and pass the association’s strict quality criteria. These inspections ensure that visitors experience quality in terms of venue, facilities, content, service and value for money. Members of the Association are regularly inspected to make sure these standards are maintained and improved.
The aim of this not-for-profit tourist organisation is for members to work together to raise and maintain the standard of Devon visitor attractions and have a united voice within the industry. The Association continues to promote Devon to both UK and overseas visitors at major travel trade exhibitions and their Complete Guide to Devon brochure sees 1.2million distributed each year. The NEW 2016 Guide is now available.
Laurence Blyth, Marketing Manager for Exeter Cathedral said “The Cathedral has important roles as both the ‘mother church’ for Devon and as a significant heritage site that has welcomed visitors and pilgrims for centuries. We’re delighted to be joining the Devon Association of Tourist Attractions (DATA) and adding our voice to promote tourism within the county.”
Simon Fishwick, Chairman for DATA, said “Exeter Cathedral is one of Devon’s leading visitor destinations and we are delighted that they are now members and we look forward to working with them.”
Simon further commented, “The last twelve months have been another successful year for the Association and we have seen several of our members being awarded with top tourism awards. Exeter Cathedral is at the forefront of Devon tourism and they are hosting this year’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2015-16 at the Cathedral on the 4th February 2016. We are pleased to say finalists include several of our members.”
Many of Devon’s Top Attractions are open for business all year around and look forward to welcoming winter visitors. It is advisable to check opening times before venturing out.
