The first ever Green Heart Bake & Craft Off took place at Cockington Country Park on Valentine’s Day to raise money for the Green Heart Appeal restoration project.
Cakes were baked and crafty items were made by people from across Torbay making the jobs of Bake Off judge Penny Jones, from Me and Mrs Jones Deli in Torquay and Ceramic artist Gail Trezise, from Cockington Court Craft Studios very tough indeed.
Sandy Wor was announced Green Heart Bake Off winner with her heart shaped vanilla sponge and the first prize in the craft category went to Gary Collins for his stunning bird box and table made from timber reclaimed from the buildings currently being renovated in Cockington Country Park.
The Green Heart Bake & Craft Off event was the first of many community fundraising events that will be taking place in Cockington Country Park as part of the Green Heart Project.
The project is raising money for vital restoration work that is already underway at Cockington Country Park, that will see a brand new visitors centre and volunteer accommodation provided and major improvements made to the existing lakes and gardens.
