TDA has worked closely with CSS, providing strategic business support, identifying areas of the business that can be expanded and developed. Through the Get Set for Growth programme, TDA helped find financial support and secure funding.
Torbay Council’s Elected Mayor and Executive Lead for Finance and Regeneration, Gordon Oliver, said: “Our efforts to support local businesses and see growth in Torbay continues. The work with CSS is an example of how we assist businesses with their development, leading to job creation and further investment into the area. There are many key sectors in the region that are growing and the opportunities for businesses here are great. The Torbay Growth Fund provides businesses with financial support to help them realize their potential and aspirations.”
£1m was set aside by Torbay Council for the Torbay Growth Fund, and to date, £800,000 has been allocated to support 17 businesses and create 300 jobs.
Due to continued success, CSS has taken possession of additional premises in Paignton, situated near to their existing manufacturing facility. This success demonstrates a continuing trend that shows companies who receive support from business advisors achieve their growth objectives.
Andrew Thompson, General Manager of CSS, said: “Working with TDA has proved a great success, helping us to identify opportunities for the business and areas in which we can develop and grow. We have received substantial support over the past year or so including a digital marketing audit, a Google Analytics review and help to prepare a business trip to Italy. Funding from Torbay Council through the Torbay Growth Fund has enabled us to invest further into our facilities and employ more people. Without this support it would’ve been much harder for us to realise our potential.”
The CSS Group offers a full manufacturing service from conceptual product design through to finished product for injection-moulded goods, including bespoke toolmaking.
CSS hold prestigious military aerospace approvals providing the opportunity for them to work with high profile export clients, which could lead to high value contracts.
Wayne Loschi, Business Advisor at TDA, said: “We look forward to continuing to work with CSS and help the business grow further. Our ongoing support will focus on areas of the business that can be developed with a view to helping them expand further, reach international markets and take on more employees. We have utilised available funding to boost their marketing activity to help increase their exposure at regional and national events including the FIA 2016 aerospace exhibition.”
