The Cornish Pilot Gig Association held their annual championship awards ceremony at St Austell Brewery Cornwall this weekend with Brixham in attendance.
The Tribute Series is sponsored by the St Austell Brewery and is based on results from throughout the season with points being awarded for results with more points available for races with more entrants.
The Brixham results for the series where the best in the club’s brief history with The Under 16s, Mens A and Ladies B all claiming top 15 places, but the best result was by far the Mens B Crew who saw off challenges from Lyme Regis and Fowey coming from 5th place in July to finish top of the table a mere 2 points ahead of Fowey in 2nd place.
The crew sponsored by Aqua Gas Torbay made their way down to Cornwall to become the first club from outside of the dutchy to claim the Mens B championship and took a good amount of support with them.
The crew of Craig Thomas as Stroke and also Captain, Ben Trayhorn at 5, Karl Oakley at 4, Chris Mason at 3, Kevin Thomas at 2, Steven Marshall in the Bow all received medals as did Karen Marshall Technical coach, Dave Morralley strength coach, Lance Worthington race coxswain and Mac MacClean as racing reserve.
