The Fishstock Team are proud to announce more MUSIC for this year’s festival, which returns to Brixham’s New Fish Quay on SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 9. In addition to the many bands already announced (see Facebook for details) South Devon alt/rock band The Kaizens and acclaimed Totnes folk duo Harbottle & Jonas join the line-up, adding up to a real treat for music lovers this year. The team are also excited about changes to the layout which sees the accoustic stage moving indoors and main stage (though still under cover) opened out, allowing music lovers to fully appreciate the bands in a traditional festival atmosphere.
Of course, FRESH SEAFOOD is an equally important feature of this unique event: our VIP chef team (Cooks on a Mission) will be cooking up a storm on the day, demonstrating how to prepare the tasty seafood on offer – more on that next month! In the meantime our seasonal recipe for April is Hasty Tasty Baked Plaice with Chive Butter: (full details on our Facebook page) – you may be surprised at the ‘breadcrumbs’!
Of course, Fishstock exists to raise funds for the FISHERMEN’S MISSION. £9,000 was handed over last year, with the running total raised since the first festival in 2008 in excess of £75,000! As Fishstock enters its 10th year, Area Superintendent John Anderson reports that work remains hectic with various situations requiring collaboration with Port Officers in Plymouth and Weymouth. The Mission was again called to deal with injuries which – unfortunately all too often – affect fishermens’ lives. Home and hospital visits and general welfare concerns in fishing communities are a priority for Mission personnel, who continue to work alongside other maritime agencies to deliver vital assistance to those who most need help.
Finally a few tickets remain for the fundraiser at Rockfish Brixham on WEDNESDAY 10th MAY. The FISHSTOCK FISH SUPPER is a scrumptious 3 course meal overlooking the beautiful harbour at Brixham which promises to be a great evening (and you may even spot Sammy the Seal!). Tickets @ £20 each available from the Quayside Hotel or Bertie & Crew in Brixham, or message the team via Facebook to join us.
