Three awards and a bumper February half term has given family tourist attraction Pennywell Farm a great kick start to the 2015 season.
The first award was a personal accolade for Pennywell’s owner and managing director, Chris Murray who was presented with a special Lifetime Achievement Award from the National Farm Attractions Network.
Having celebrated the attractions 25th birthday last year, Chris has been a pioneer in the farm attractions sector, introducing a formula of hands on activities, shows and displays to the farmyard experience that has been replicated across the country.
To add to this Pennywell received the Silver Award for Customer Service and the Bronze Award for Sustainable Tourism in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards which were presented to Chris and wife Nicky at the farm on Friday.
Chris says: “The start of the 2015 season has been phenomenal. We enjoyed a record breaking February Half Term, as well as a bumper Mothering Sunday, giving us every reason to be optimistic.
“We have invested heavily in the farm over the winter months and enjoyed an incredible 39% rise in visitor numbers this February compared to the same period last year. The future certainly looks bright.”
Pennywell Farm was purchased in 1988 as a bare field site and now attracts over 70’000 visitors each year.Follow
