Vigilance of Brixham

 

Vigilance is an 85 year old, 78 foot Brixham sailing trawler During the sailing season she is often alongside the heritage pontoon or can be seen in the bay or along the coast. In the winter she is moored in the outer harbour.

Vigilance is often chartered for trips to France and the Channel Islands , for film making and for alongside events. She is fully certified by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency and has berths for fifteen, including crew.

She weighs 95 tons. The main mast is 85 feet tall and weighs 2 tons. The mizzen mast is 46 feet tall. . She is the last sailing trawler to be built at Upham's Yard in Brixham and is holder of the King George the fifth sailing trawler cup.

In 2011 Vigilance will take part in the Brixham Sailing Trawler Rally Saturday May 28th, the Looe Lugger Festival, Paimpol ‘Chants de Mer', and Dartmouth Regatta fireworks

 

Vigilance, BM76, was built in 1926. All crew and helpers are volunteers, dedicated to the preservation of Brixham's sailing heritage
