Mr Will Ford (Greenway Ferry Co.) kindly offered the use of the nationally historic registered ship The “Fairmile”, which saw action in the Second World War, rescuing downed aircraft crews. Our former Mayor, Mr Nick Bye, was the guest speaker and Samantha Little presented copies of the book to four people present whose memories were recorded in the book: Mrs Iris Mills who was an evacuee to Brixham; Mr Mike Buley, Mrs Rona Lovegrove and Mrs Sylvia Gilder, all of whom were living in Brixham at the time.

After speeches we were treated to a trip on the “Fairmile” within Torbay which enabled us to see closely the rocks and wildlife along the coast.

Copies of the book are now available for purchase at Brixham Heritage Museum, price £5.95.
