Brixham Yacht Club are pleased to announce that they will be hosting the 103rd Torbay Royal Heritage Regatta on Sunday 28th May 2017.
The Regatta which takes place mainly on the Brixham side of Torbay will start with a Parade of Sail by over 30 Heritage vessels at 1200, off Brixham Breakwater, before the ‘Corinthian Sail in Company’ led off by the Brixham trawlers at 1245, followed at intervals by 6 further classes of classic boats. Programmes will be available in the town.
The Heritage Fleet will contain local Brixham Heritage trawlers Vigilance, Pilgrim, Leader and Golden Vanity as well as other notable sailing fishing vessels from further afield I.R.I.S, Our Daddy, Seafish, and True Vine. It is expected that there will be a good turnout and vessels will be congregating on the Brixham Heritage pontoon from Friday the 26th May where members of the public are welcome to come and see the vessels up close and talk to their crews.
Brixham Yacht Club Commodore David Faithful said, ” The Club is very proud to be hosting this annual event which celebrates the heritage sailing history of Brixham. The Club will be throwing its doors open to all over the weekend to celebrate the event and to offer an unrivalled view of the regatta from the Club’s windows”.
