YOUR EMAILS....Dear Brixham...

Dear Brixhamnews.com

I find it surprising, disappointing and frustrating that various Brixham clubs and organisations do not make better use of your website. In particular, the local cricket and football teams would surely benefit from advertising their matches on your site, together with match reports. The reports do not have to be "war and peace", a couple of paragraphs would suffice.

Dear Brixham

As a member of the Froward Point, Kingswear National Coastwatch Institution I have been trying to find out the history of the Brownstone Battery and in particular what became of the two 6" naval guns parts of which are lying on the cliffs below our watch station.

Dear Brixham

There are a few reasons why I and my family are totally against a big Tesco to build in the central part of Brixham.

1) Where we used to live before moving to Brixham 10 years ago, Tesco moved into the small town, which was about the size of Brixham. Within 2 years, we lost 2 independent bakers, 3 independent greengrocers, 4 independent butchers, an independent florist, several small newsagents, a clothing outlet, 3 smaller supermarkets including Co-op and what was a thriving Saturday market, plus a few other shops. It is now a town mainly full of restaraunts, charity shops, Tesco, coffee shops, Aldi, hairdressers and offices.

With respect to the proposed supermarket development and related issues.

For the record : I am "Brixham born and bred" however I haven't lived full time in Brixham for nearly 30 years. As a family however we are frequent visitors and have a holiday home in the town.

I have just spent the past two days at the Brixham Town Christmas Fair fundraising for Shoalstone Pool. I have been truly amazed by the phenomenal amount of support there is for this special place.

Dear Brixham

Following on from Abi Parkes's excellent coverage in today's Herald Express (01 November), I feel that I must clarify some of the comments made by Mayor Oliver, particularly as regards the discussion we had hoped to have with the other party which has expressed an interest in Shoalstone pool.

This is an open letter to Sarah Wollaston MP

I have been ask by the South West Fish Producers Organisation to ask that you immediately ask the Fisheries Minister Richard Benyon to instruct the Royal Navy to protect our fishermen from hostile French interference while lawfully carrying out their Scallop fishing. I am aware the Sheryll Murray MP has also demand action on behalf of her Cornish fleet.
