Brixham offers many opportunities to participate in community events from sports activities such as Rugby at Astley Park and football at Wall Park to bowling at St Mary's Park and Furzeham Green.

In the town The Christian Community Centre hosts many activities from local history talks to dance classes, whilst out on the Breakwater anglers meet every week and its beach provides a launch place for the sub aqua divers. In the summer season there are many staged events such as the Heritage Festival and the Vintage Trawler Race enjoyed by many. The working Trawler's Race is also very popular and evenings featuring the town band playing under the old fish market. Winter brings Christmas carols around the harbour and boats decked out with bright lights. Finally the numerous fund raising and social events linked to the lifeboat highlights the towns connection to this vital emergency service.
