improve their fitness and general well being. - as a group we had to walk 50 miles, swim 5 miles and cycle 20 miles!

With quite a few competitors in their 70s and 80s, who joined the younger ladies, this was a daunting undertaking. While the flesh

may be sagging the spirit was more than willing as 82 members took part in the challenge.

During the Summer:

•  82 ladies walked a measured route through Galmpton while 18 also walked the Paignton mile

•  11 ladies swam the 5 miles at the Admiral Swimming Centre in Brixham

•  9 ladies gallantly cycled the 20 miles along the sea front at Paignton in heavy rain to complete the Triathlon in early September. Torbay Bike Hire run by John and Lewis Caton generously provided the bicycles to enable us to fulfil this part of the challenge.

An incentive to complete these challenges was the cream tea at the end!!

A remarkable achievement for the village ladies who demonstrated that it is never too late to get fit.

Viv Watt the President stated “ Having 82 members take part in this challenge is something we can all be proud of .”
