Parade of Tractors
On Saturday 7th August
the Torbay Steam Fair road procession took place from Paignton
Sea Front to the grounds of the Fair at Churston and this year
was made up fifteen tractors in memory of Tractor Marshall Mike
Endean who passed away shortly after last year's show aged 60.

Show
manager Tony Brooks said that, ‘Mike will be sorely missed as
he was a founder member of our association, a conscientious worker
and a much liked and respected chap.' |
|
Led by Sentinel Super lightweight Steam Wagon built
in 1916 also building up a head of steam was another Sentinel
Wagon called ‘Elizabeth' following at the rear. |

The Tractors had come from far and wide to take
part in this year's Fair and joining for the first time this year
Mr Terry Lucas of Swanage, Dorset said,”It was interesting driving
around the town in a tractor.” His tractor was rather unusual
as it was an automatic gear box with 10 gears. A rare example
of a Ford 3000 in pristine restored condition rebuilt from the
ground by Mr R Hawker, a former Ford mechanic, and finished by
Terry. |
