Mark says: ‘I'm pleased to help raise awareness about the work of RNLI lifeboat crew on packs of Lifeboat Tea. RNLI volunteers come from all walks of life and at Torbay we have volunteer crew with day jobs that include an architect, fisherman, professional photographer, GP and ambulance paramedic, just for example. Fundraising support from businesses like Lifeboat Tea is very important and helps to ensure that we can go on saving lives at sea.'

Ninety-five per cent of RNLI lifeboat crew are volunteers and the money raised by Lifeboat Tea will go towards the provision of equipment and training for the crew.

Mark joins several other RNLI representatives from the south west on the packs of Lifeboat Tea including Mary Taylor, RNLI Padstow volunteer fundraiser, and Chris Boundy and John Dugard, RNLI Senior Lifeguards in Cornwall – who both received Bronze Medals for Gallantry in 2009 from the RNLI.

Lifeboat Tea first originated when a sailor and his crew were caught in a violent storm during the tragic Fastnet race in 1979. All crew members were rescued from their sinking boat by the RNLI and Lifeboat Tea was set up to mark their gratitude and to raise money for their life savers.

Produced by Williamson Tea, a family owned business with over 140 years of tea expertise, Lifeboat Tea has had a long standing association with the RNLI.

Lifeboat Tea is 100 per cent natural Kenyan black tea, which is Fairtrade certified and accredited by the Rainforest Alliance. Lifeboat Tea has a RRP of £2.09 and is also available at RNLI shops.
