Brixham Christmas
Carnival 2011
This year's Brixham
Christmas Carnival proved to be the biggest, brightest, loudest
as it circled the town twice on Saturday 3rd December. Equally
the massive waiting crowds of onlookers lined the harbor and
streets, undoubtedly encouraged by the mild and dry weather,
which made the whole event even more enjoyable!

Brixham Society of
Art Exhibition 2011
As soon as the doors
were open at the Scala Hall for this year's Brixham Society
of Art Exhibition, members of the public were keen to view their
artwork, and pieces were soon being wrapped up to take away.

Sunday August 21st - Brixham Battery Group 'took over' the WW2

Cowtown Carnival 2011
Fisherman John Lovell waited patiently at the cross roads at
the bottom of Rea Barn Rd for the Cow Town Carnival to arrive
and seek permission to enter ‘Fish Town'.

Camp on Berry Head of
Re-enactment soldiers
During the weekend
of August 7th and 8th, there was a camp on Berry Head of re-enactment
soldiers, who lived as they would have in Napoleonic times in
the Northern Fort. The French soldiers seized the Southern Fort
on Saturday amidst much smoke and noise and then it was reclaimed
by the English on Sunday afternoon.

Battle
for Berry Head
On
Saturday August 6th , with the air full of gun smoke and the
roar of the cannons causing some children watching to hold their
ears, the British foot soldiers reloaded before the storming
the South Fort at Berry Head.

Steaming
through Brixham
To
celebrate 25 years of the Torbay Steam Fair, on Friday 5th August
the 2011 Steam Fair recreated one of the last memories of Showman's
Steam Engines pulling on to a Fairground at the chosen
location of Furzeham Green, Brixham, which was always recognised
as one of the most difficult fairground sites to pull on in
the country.

Lifeboat
Week 2011
Friday
22nd July

Breitling Wing Walkers demonstrated their high flying
skills over Brixham. |

Through
smoke trails, the two planes flew with their daring wing walkers,
helping to celebrate Torbay Lifeboat Week. |

RNLI
Week with the Royal Navy Raiders Parachute Drop and
Lifeboat Demonstration in Brixham Harbour. |
|
|
|
Around 6pm the the
RN Raiders headed down to the Harbour, landing safely in the
water before the waiting crowds at Marina Walk.
There they were
picked up by the RNLI Inshore Lifeboat.

A New Competition
to enjoy the ‘Buccaneers Way'
Those mischievous
purveyors of fun, the Brixham Buccaneers, want to put everyone
in the picture about an exciting new competition.

What's
Hap'Nin in 2011?
This year dark clouds
threatened at times at St Mary's Park, but The Hap'Nin happened
with no rain and hundreds of families enjoying picnicking and
listening to a variety of sounds on Sat 9th July.

Brixham's
Trawler Race 2011
Heavy showers ceased,
just in time for the start of the 49th Brixham Trawler Race
on Saturday June 18th, with many local fishermen and a few from
beyond, taking part in the race around Tor Bay.

20 Years of Festival
Fun!
The 20th Brixham Heritage
Festival got underway on Saturday 28th May, with the annual
Heritage Parade.
The procession started
at the Harbour and went through the town centre, and back along
Fore Street.

Mile of Pirates 2011
Brixham Buccaneer
Nigel James the organiser of the Pirate Festival 2011 was very
pleased with the Brixham Mile of Pirates attempt saying 'it
went really, really well and everyone was good natured'.
