Brixham Battery Group relive local history of the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain

Hope all is well with you and yours. Just a note to say that as this is the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of Britain Brixham Battery Group have been reliving local history.
Dart Guard

On Tuesday August 24th 12 group members 'took over' Dartmouth Castle during the Dartmouth Castle 'Attention Tuesday' English Heritage event.

Group members attended as Home Guardsman, Air Raid Wardens + US Army Press Corps. Having explained to over 700 visitors what it was like to 'man the guns' defending Dart Estuary and Harbour during WW2 visitors were surprised to see the wartime Prime Minister Winston Churchill (Dave Clarke) arrive with his ATS driver and proceed to inspect the guard of honour.

The Battery Museum will be open during the Heritage Open Days English Heritage Event on September the 9th,10th,11th and 12th.

Guided tours will include the 30m underground tunnel. The Battery will be open as usual 2-4pm free of charge.
