Churston was ranked the third highest state school in the South West and was 20th nationally. Headteacher Bob Owers said ‘Year 11 were a fantastic year group. Not only did they break all our academic records, but they also excelled in sport and the arts. They were a great group of students to work with. I am also very proud of the fact that Churston is a socially inclusive selective school in that there were a greater percentage of disadvantaged students at Churston than at our local non-selective school ; this is probably unique in the country.'
