SUCCESSFUL SAM

Sam, a student at Churston Ferrers Grammar School has recently passed his Level 1 Football Coaching course at Devon F.A. Headquarters in Newton Abbot on 23rd October, 2011. 16 year old Sam is the youngest in Devon to qualify and one of the youngest, if not the youngest, in the country.

Successful Sam

Sam started coaching the under 8s and under 9s at Walden Athletic Football Club, Torquay on Saturday mornings as he has always wanted to be a football coach, therefore, keen to have the qualification to support this.

Sam undertook the two week course which included Child protection, football sessions, first aid and theory tests. Sam had to be committed to the evening sessions and Sundays.

Sam has played for Walden youth for the last three years, during which they won the league and were finalists in the County Cup. Now that Sam is 16, he trains with the senior team at Walden Athletic on Thursdays and is hoping to play for them very soon.

Sam says that passing this course has given him the confidence and knowledge to coach at Walden and would like to thank them for their support and encouragement.
