Rob
Julian at the Blue Walnut Café & Bistro
January will see local
Brixham Artist Rob Julian's return to the Blue Walnut Café
& Bistro in Chelston, Torquay with another exhibition of
his latest work. His work first featured here in July and he
returns with more pieces created in pastel. |
|
Rob,
whose painting career began 30 years ago, had a break from painting
and began to create again 3 years ago, when he became interested
in working with pastels.
His inspiration to
create his own work again was re-kindled after seeing works
by Rembrandt, Van Rijn, Vincent Van Gogh and Johannes Vermeer.
Rob actually comes
from Holland and he combines his love of the Dutch masters with
his love of the Devon landscape. Rob creates pastel imagery
full of texture, strong lines, beautiful colour and great depth,
making the viewer feel they could walk into them. |
Rob currently
exhibits his work at The Turner Gallery, Exeter, The Nicky Stevenson
Gallery, Brixham, and has shown at The Flavel Centre, Dartmouth.
This is his second solo exhibition at the Blue Walnut Café
& Bistro, Walnut Road, Chelston, Torquay. His work will
be on display for a month, in this interesting venue which is
not only a café/ bar with art gallery for local artists,
but also provides a place for live music, performance poetry
and includes a small 25 seat Nickelodeon cinema.
Rob said,” I am really
exited to be exhibiting this latest collection of my work and
these particular pieces offer a wide range of settings from
Haytor to Churston, the Dart and beyond.” Rob's work really
is quite detailed and exquisite and can be viewed at the Blue
Walnut Café & Bistro from Jan 1st to Jan 31st. The
Café opens 10am to 3pm Mon – Fri, and 10am to 3pm on
Saturday.
