Organiser of the Great
Create and Blank Canvas exhibits at Brixham College Adult &
Community Learning Centre
Emma Carter has agreed
to have a show of her seascapes and landscapes at the Brixham
Adult & Community Learning Centre from 6th January
until 13th February. Her work reflects her travels
through Europe with golden landscapes reminiscent of Provence
or Tuscany , some of which have a dream-like quality. Her family
home on Burgh Island and her current home in Torbay are reflected
in the acrylic paintings of Berry Head and local harbours. |
Emma's work only reflects
tiny signs of human life, a glimpse of a sailboat, a row of
planted olive trees, a small dwelling in a field of flowers
set against the immense backdrop of mountains. In today's hectic
and overloading society, Emma's vast and open compositions provide
a visual, escape to a serene and ethereal world. She has been
influenced by the impressionist movement and began her career
after graduating from Middlesex University with a BA Honours
degree in Fine Art. Recent commissions have included seascapes
for the Prime Minister, Gordon Brown.
Emma is the organiser
of the Great Create which is a six week art exhibition at held
at the National Trust's Greenway property. This year she also
organised Blank Canvas at Torre Abbey with a sculpture trail
around the gardens. Emma taught adult classes at Brixham Adult
& Community Learning Centre until she had her two children.
She was an inaugural member of the Brixham Shoal of Artists
and still demonstrates to art societies, hoping to enthuse others
to take up the brush.
The exhibition at Brixham
is open daily from 9.30am-3pm and on Monday to Friday from 6.30pm
– 8.30pm . All work on show is for sale.
