Chrissy
uses glitter paint, beads, foil, sequins and found items such
as sweet papers to bring her pictures to life. She said “I am
inspired by colour and the way I feel about people and places
around me. Many times I have no idea where a painting will lead
when I start it. I just let the paint flow and see what happens.”
This year she has
also included a male nude torso painted in vibrant pinks and
red tones of her partner Charlie. He has returned the compliment
by hanging a delicate pencil sketch of Chrissy.
Her greatest fans
are the ‘ACE' students who she cares for each week at the Thursday
Group. They found her work ‘stunning' and ‘inspirational'. ACE
Trustee, Bev Tout said, “Chrissy tried to keep her talent a
secret but we have persuaded her to teach one of our classes
and she has come up with great ideas for the Teignmouth TRAIL
project where the group are creating a rock pool from recycled
objects. Her work as a professional artist is outstanding -
the flower meadows are brilliant and the painting of the bay
from Goodrington takes you into the summer and beach huts.”
Chrissy's work is
on show until the end of term (March 31st)
with access when the centre is open, 9.30am to 3pm, Monday to
Friday and 6.30-8.30pm, Monday to Wednesday.
