Certificate
Presentation
Last
week, Liz Lawrence (Head of Health Community and Foundation
Learning at South Devon College) was delighted to present certificates
to students studying at the Brixham Adult and Community Learning
Centre who had achieved a qualification during the autumn term.

Liz
pointed out what a good example the students were to their children,
it was wonderful when adults take up learning again and succeed,
getting the ‘bug' to go onto further study at South Devon College.
Ben Meagor,
Shauna Crossdale, Martin Clater, Les Gwinnell and Lindsey Lovell
all achieved City and Guilds National Certificates for Adult
Numeracy and Literacy.
Martin wanted
to improve his skills and was keen to prove to himself that
he could gain a qualification. |
 |
“ I'd say to anyone
who was thinking of coming back to learning that it might be
a bit of a struggle to start with but you do get there” Martin
has achieved the Level 1 Certificate in Literacy and has now
started the numeracy course.
Shauna and Lindsey
both work with children and needed to obtain qualifications
to improve their confidence and progress at work. |
Keeping up with his
children was Ben's main incentive and he is much more confident
now in all areas of Maths. “I would highly recommend the course
to anyone who wants to improve. It gets me out of the house
, it's good fun and you get to meet new people.”
Les
started attending a while ago now and has achieved Literacy
and Numeracy qualifications. He said that “ I have been grateful
for the support I have been given from the staff and other
students. I have a job now but am keen to continue to learn
and improve my skills further ”
