Edward, a year 7 Churston Ferrers Grammar School student, made it into the final of the South West Regional Swimming Championships at Millfield on Sunday 22nd May. Edward swam a personal best time of 3.02.97 in the 200m Breaststroke, coming 5th overall in his age group. This was a huge achievement for Edward as he was also selected to attend Swim Camp at Millfield School in September, following his success at the Regionals.
In the Devon County Championships, Edward won Bronze in the 100m Individual Medley, Silver in the 50m Breaststroke, Gold in the 100m and 200m Breaststroke.
Regional Championships – qualification for 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly, 50m and 100m Breaststroke and finalist for 200m Breaststroke.
Edward is thrilled to have his achievements recognised, as he puts a lot of effort and hard work into all of his training and proudly shared ‘I was the only one from the club to get in the finals!’
12-year old Edward also plays cricket and basketball but swimming is his favourite sport; he enjoys breaststroke the most which is reflected in his achievements.
Nicky Hawkins, Support Coach at Paignton Swimming Club added that another Churston student, Jake also swam in both competitions. Jake was entered in the age 14 group, where the competition was particularly stiff this year.Follow
