Brixham College, an ambitious academy with high expectations of all, is celebrating its best ever set of GCSE results with progress made by all students predicted to be above the national average. The news comes hot off the heels of achieving its best ever A Level results.
Amongst its top performing students, achieving 5 or more A* grades, were Sophie Selvey, Weronika Skiba, Connor Togher, Melody Burgess, Michael O’Shea, Carlos Rodrigues, Shannon Toms, Danny Trezise.
Students at Brixham College, who are about to move up the gears in analysis and thinking as they progress with their education and become sources of inspiration for younger students, achieved 66% A*-C grades in both GCSE English and Maths; 86% A*-C grades in English Language and 66 % A*-C grades in Mathematics.
Sophie Selvey said “I am really happy. I can’t believe it! An A* in History, Wow! I had such a great time here”.
Weronika Skiba added “ Really pleased with an A* in Maths and my A* English Literature is brilliant as I couldn’t speak much English when I arrived here”.
Shannon Toms said “Really chuffed with Science; it was not my best subject and I got a B”.
“I’m absolutely delighted with the performance of a terrific year group,” says Kara Bridgeman, vice principal, Brixham College. “We’re particularly pleased with the outstanding performance of those students that accessed additional support. With 20% up turn on our ‘Closing the Gap’ figure, these results are a real accolade to all our staff who always go that extra mile for them.” She adds.
“These fantastic results are a well-deserved outcome and a great reward for the hard work that students, staff and of course parents, have invested in the process,” says Mark Eager, principal of Brixham College who was particularly pleased with this year’s outstanding performance in the Arts, Sciences, Further Maths and Child Development. “In terms of progress, it was also a great year for the staff and students in our Enhanced Autism Provision which supported Jacob Westley and Harry Davidson to become two of the five top performing students in the year,” adds Mark.
“The months of waiting are finally over for our students who can now apply the same level of passion and perseverance to their A levels as they’ve clearly done for their GCSEs. Well done!” says Anthony Prowse, Chair of Governors, Brixham College.
