Dear Ministry
Partner
Do
the work of an evangelist, fulfil your ministry – 2 Timothy
4:5
Last
week we received two wonderful letters from Georgia and Lithuania
which demonstrate how effective real evangelism is – and how
important your support in prayer has been this year.
Recently
in Georgia they celebrated a ‘Day of Tolerance'. Most of the
Georgian politicians and prominent civic leaders were present
at that celebration. The Mayor of Tbilisi – the capital city
where our crusade was held – made a public report: he was very
proud that under the present Government, for the first time
ever in Georgian history, the Evangelical church could have
a major event in the Sport Palace! He expressed his hope that
it is not the last event of such scale! Even the secular leaders
of Georgia understand the impact that our crusade made on the
whole country!
Bishop
Rimantas Kupstys, Chairman of the National Coordinating Committee
in Lithuania, wrote about our evangelism there in October 2010
and 2009:
Dear
David, these were the first mass evangelistic events ever
held in the history of our country; the biggest hall in
Vilnius, in the whole of Lithuania, was used for the celebration
of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Evangelicals are a really
tiny part (not quite 1%) of a predominantly catholic country
– yet we were able to run such a huge event! Thank you for
the privilege of being partners with you. Without your faith
and resources it would never happen. Eighty evangelical
churches were involved, sharing our human, financial and
spiritual resources: in prayer and intercession, street
evangelism, distribution of leaflets, and in the preparation
of ushers, counsellors, worshippers.
As
a result, the Gospel of Jesus Christ reached the hearts
of thousands of our people. Our nation is now open to the
Gospel as never before. This is the exact right time to
preach the Gospel and we are so grateful to our Lord for
answering our prayers, so that because of your obedience
to Him to come and do the work of the evangelist, a great
time of Revival has come to our country.
Buses
brought people from all corners of Lithuania: we were so
blessed because through this ministry we were able to reach
people in places where no church had yet been able to reach
them!
Many
new converts have joined the churches, and Alpha courses
started all over the country. Many who were Christians already
are now on fire for God through their involvement and by
seeing with their own eyes what God is doing. These events
changed their attitude towards unbelievers and made them
open to actively working in ministry. The two campaigns
over these two years have mobilised the churches to work
together and brought wonderful results in real unity and
trust between us.

He
will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn – Hosea
6:3
In
my last prayer email I asked you to pray specifically for the
following:
-
That the Lord will
answer in an unexpected way to speak to someone to give
a single sum in excess of £100,000.
-
That all our debts
will be cleared.
-
That our income
will increase sufficiently during 2011 to cover the cost
of all the evangelism.
God
is answering – but we are still waiting in faith for the full
answer – please continue to pray very urgently and when the
miracle occurs we shall rejoice together. Our problem is that
we need to confirm the dates for next year's evangelism very
quickly – minimum preparation time for large scale nation-wide
evangelism is 6 months. The first potential crusades are April
and May, preparation has begun, but we have exhausted all our
finance on this year's evangelism.
I
want to encourage you. Our faith is not theory, something we
just learn about – it is real and practical. Our God answers
prayer – and He works miracles. I've seen every kind of miracle
you can imagine. I know miracles will happen when I pray; I
don't have any question about it. It is no different from knowing
that every morning the sun will get out of bed and show itself
at my window! God works miracles every day – but it is for us
to believe He can, and will, in our lives!
If we actually believe
God can work miracles, His promise in Ephesians 3:20 is that
He is able to exceed what we ask, think or imagine – but faith
is the most difficult of the 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit! 1 Corinthians
12:4-11.
Thank
you
David
