Raising
support for local charities
A collection in Brixham
over Christmas proved to be one of the best years for fund raising,
despite the current economic climate.
Funds donated by Brixham
and Churston people to a Christmas Collection by Soroptimists
International of Brixham, Brixham Inner Wheel and Brixham Rotary
Club resulted in raising £1110
.for local charities, Brixham Youth Enquiry Service and
Brixham Alzheimer's Memory Café.

Dear Members
and Friends in Brixham and Torbay Circuit churches
|
New
Fundraising Webshop created for the Fishstock Fundraising
If all families around Brixham and the surrounding areas clicked
on our Fishstock website and did their online shopping in the
lead up to Christmas, we would raise a great deal of funds for
Fishstock Brixham. There is a huge choice of retailers on the
website including Marks & Spencers, Halfords, Amazon, Asda,
etc.. If families go into the habit of clicking on the Fishstock
website rather than direct to M&S or other shops, then the
Mission would reap the benefit through the commission received.
All shopping through our website in the lead up to Christmas
would be very much appreciated.

Dear
Brixham,
I
would like to offer your readers the chance to make a real difference.
The
Sue Ryder charity shop in Fore Street, Brixham needs volunteers
to help it raise money for this great cause.
Sue
Ryder provides care services for people with long-term and end
of life needs in hospices, residential care centres and in people's
homes. We also support families, friends and carers of people
with these illnesses and our work makes a huge difference
to people's lives.
Our
shop needs more volunteers to help it raise the funds that make
this good work possible.
We're
looking for people of any age who can spare some time to help
with serving customers or preparing stock for sale.
We
can offer a fun place to work in the centre of town, flexible
working hours and some great retail experience in a busy store.
And most of all, of course, we can offer you a great cause to
support.
If
you think you can help, we'd love to hear from you!

Shopmobility
appeals for volunteers
An appeal has gone
out for volunteers to come forward to help run the popular Shopmobility
scheme across Torbay.
Shopmobility centres in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham were set
up by Torbay Council more than 10 years ago. They are registered
charities and are run independently by volunteers.
Now, new volunteers are needed in all three towns.
Christine Morton, the Torquay Shopmobility Co-ordinator, said:
"Our centres are all proving very popular with local residents
and visitors to the Bay, and it is important that we attract
more people to boost our teams of volunteers.
"Shopmobility allows people who are unable to walk, or walk
far, the chance to hire a wheelchair or electric scooter for
a small fee so they can enjoy the shops and facilities in town
centres. Anyone can use Shopmobility, young or old, resident
or visitor, no matter if their mobility difficulty is temporary
or permanent.
"Volunteers who can spare just a few hours a week can make a
real difference, help promote the towns to visitors, and meet
lots of new people. Full training will be provided, including
taking bookings and giving training on how to use the equipment
to members of the public."
People who wish to use Shopmobility in Torbay are advised to
book in advance to avoid disappointment. All three shops have
ample pay and display car parking for all, and are conveniently
located for the shops and other facilities and attractions.
To hire equipment, annual membership costs £3 and hire
rates are from £1 per day. The Shopmobility centre contact
numbers are as follows:
Torquay 01803 380982
Paignton 01803 521771
Brixham 01803 858304
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is asked to contact
one of the centres.

The
regeneration of the tennis courts
Learn, Play, Compete!
The tennis courts at St Mary's Park are deteriorating rapidly
and I am hoping to regenerate them before it's too late.
Join the tennis club
and help bring them back to life! If you're passionate about
tennis or just want to play for fun, then come and join. Learn
new skills, practice your serve, or start from scratch with
the help of FREE coaching, join in activities, play matches
for fun or compete in a mini tournament.
People of all ages and
skill levels are welcome! Members will have exclusive use of
the courts, and it's FREE!! No join up fee, or yearly membership,
just turn up with a racket and play.
Take part in fundraisers to help raise money to get the courts
up to scratch. The more people that play, the more funding we
can get!

Community Fundraiser:
By
joining as a Community Fundraiser (CFR) ,
which costs just £25, and encouraging your supporters
to use the Utility Warehouse's services, you could generate
a substantial new source of income to invest in a charity,
community group or organisation. .
Whether you are a school looking to raise money for new computers,
books or playground equipment, a youth group trying to raise
money for a special outing or annual camp, a charity looking
to increase its income or a religious community looking to
fund a capital building programme, the CFR position is the
ideal solution. The Utility Warehouse provides you with a
range of promotional items, together with letter templates
for you to send to your supporters. All they need to do is
call the Utility Warehouse's Community Fundraising Team on
a freephone number, and your community will start to benefit
from a share of everything they spend - forever! Alternatively,
your supporters can find out everything they need to know
about the Utility Warehouse on the internet and sign up online.
·
Through their unique Community Fundraiser
scheme, the Utility Warehouse can help charities, community
groups and organisations save money on their utility bills
while helping raise funds for good causes at the same
time.
·
As a Community Fundraiser, all you have to
do is tell your supporters about a great new way of raising
money. Then prompt them to call the dedicated Utility
Warehouse Community Fundraising Team using a freephone
number. They will explain all the benefits of using their
services, and there will be no hard sell. When a customer
signs up they ' ll be added to your CFR account.
·
As a new Community Fundraiser, your only
commitment is a one-off £25 registration fee. You
can earn back the equivalent of your joining fee when
12 of your supporters sign up as customers in your first
90 days.
·
Once your supporters have become customers,
the Utility Warehouse will donate a cash bonus of £5
to your cause. After that, the company will donate up
to 5% of your customers ' monthly bill. The Utility Warehouse
will continue to pay you each month – for as long as they
carry on using their services
The
Utility Warehouse is so confident that you ' ll be happy with
the money you save that most services have no minimum contract
term, so you ' re not tied in. It ' s a win-win situation
for all. You save money, the Utility Warehouse gains a customer
and your cause raises money!
