Shoalstone Pool, new season, new look!

This year The Friends of Shoalstone Pool and Torbay Council have created a Mediterranean look to Shoalstone Outdoor Pool, with Chairman of the Friends of Shoalstone Pool, Rowan Molesworth and other volunteers being joined by Mayor Nick Bye at this year's official opening of the Pool on Saturday 22nd May.

Once again the Friends of Shoalstone have worked hard to get the pool ready for the new season, with the new blue look, painted changing rooms and new signs making the pool even more inviting. This year the team had also helped the Pool to withstand storm damage through the winter by using under water cement and keeping the Pool full of water to help act as a shock absorber from the North East winds.

Rowan said, “We all wish her a speedy recovery.”

Finally Nick Brown, the Shoalstone Pool Caretaker, was thanked for his service to the Pool and sporting the new Shoalstone Pool T-shirt Nick Brown said, “Brilliant, absolutely spectacular the Pool's much better than before, now the whole site has been painted and it has new windows.”

Having officially opened the Pool Mayor Nick Bye was given a Shoalstone Pool T-shirt as a surprise and he said, “I really appreciate the shirt it's just my colour and I will probably go for a swim in August when it's warmer.” The Mayor was also invited to cut and sample the cake made for the official opening by Sandra Adams.

Opening day the Pool was packed with hundreds of people enjoying the Pools facilities with some taking a cool dip, watched by lifeguards and the birds of prey that were part of the Torbay Owls Company display on the grassed area close by.
