Heavy showers ceased, just in time for the start of the 49th Brixham Trawler Race on Saturday June 18th, with many local fishermen and a few from beyond, taking part in the race around Tor Bay.

The 20th Brixham Heritage Festival got underway on Saturday 28th May, with the annual Heritage Parade.

The procession started at the Harbour and went through the town centre, and back along Fore Street.

Official Opening of the Cavern Exhibition at the Brixham Heritage Museum

Beneath Brixham there lies a hidden landscape including three principal fossil “bone” caverns (Windmill Cavern, Ash Hole Cavern & Bench Cavern). They attracted much scientific interest during the Victorian period but have since been largely forgotten, (especially as Windmill Hill Cavern was closed as a show cavern in 1977.)

Coffee Morning raises funds for War Shelter Restoration Project

Brixham Battery Group raised £200 at last Saturdays fund raising 'coffee morning' held at the Community Centre, Fore Street, Brixham. Re-enactors Winston Churchill, aka Dave Clarke, plus uniformed GI Steve Watkins and British Paratrooper Peter Bailey entertained customers and encouraged a number to join our charity.

YES (Youth Enquiry Service) and Transition Brixham have finally reached the stage with their Edge Project whereby they were able to launch ‘Hands On Brixham' weekend of Sat 19th and Sun 20th March with over 20 designer/makers workshops and some art displays and exhibitions, as well as a cafe providing refreshments at the old United Reformed Church on Bolton Street.

Marissa says, ”Its something I've always wanted to do and have applied to get in for the last 5 years through the ballot with no success.” However this year Marissa has gained entry, by thankfully winning her running clubs place.
