'I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.'

Obama fails to take action against persecution of Christians

US President Barack Obama has failed to designate a single "country of particular concern" for religious freedom violations since he took office, despite the brutal persecution of Christians around the world.

Dear All

Israel reflections – Thank you for praying!

We would encourage you to watch all the meetings from Israel by visiting www.propheticvision.org.uk/media

This week, the pastor of the Beit Hallel Congregation from Israel , who assisted in the organising of our recent services there, emailed a wonderful report which we would like to share with you:

“Last week we organised an outreach conference with David Hathaway. This year he celebrated his 50th anniversary since his first ever visit to Israel in 1961. It was a very joyous celebration with the theme: Israel – yesterday, today and forever. He has a big heart and a big passion for Israel and its people – and it was reflected in his message.

Top 10 Consequences of evolution?

Smithsonian blunders again!
by Lita Cosner and Jonathan Sarfati

Published: 5 May 2011(GMT+10)

General diagram of a mitochondrion. Mitochondria vary in size and shape, from nearly spherical to long threadlike filaments.
When as venerable an institution as the Smithsonian puts out an article, one would expect it to have sound scientific information, even if we would disagree with the evolutionary interpretation of that information. Yet it gained infamy when it booted out researcher Dr Richard Sternberg merely for publishing a pro—intelligent-design article in the journal Proceedings of the Biological Society of Washington which he edited (see the documentary Expelled).

A revealing look at the world’s religious belief systems

A review of Discovering God by Rodney Stark
HarperOne, New York, 2007

reviewed by Andrew S. Kulikovsky

Rodney Stark is professor of Social Sciences at Baylor University, and is a prolific author and renowned scholar in the field of sociology of religion. This new book is a massive tome (414 pages plus notes, bibliography and index) in which the author attempts to provide a religious history of mankind, from the Stone Age to the present. It is a history of the origins of religions covering prehistoric primal beliefs, the major Asian religions including Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Taoism and Confucianism, and the religions of Sumer, Egypt, Greece, early Rome and Mesoamerica, as well as, of course, Christianity and Islam.

Christians in Parliament (CiP) is a non-denominational and official all-Party body,

working throughout Westminster with a clear vision: to encourage relationships in, with and through our Lord Jesus Christ.

You will be pleased to know that there is more Christian activity in the Palace of Westminster than generally assumed.

Contrary to the media image it is a rather friendly place, and is home for a large part of the day to some ten thousand people.

Q: What’s the truth about “races”?

Ken Ham answers: When I first moved to the USA 24 years ago, I was shocked at the racism and prejudice I observed in certain churches in some parts of the country. This sort of racism and prejudice was mainly centered around the shade of one’s skin—dark and light. I was also amazed that the American church has not been leading the way in recent times in dealing with racism. Then I began to realize more and more that so much of the church had compromised the book of Genesis or had ignored its history, and they concentrated on moral and spiritual matters pertaining to the New Testament and largely pushing the Old Testament aside. I now understood why the church was not leading in this important area.

In recent times, in many ways the secular world has been leading the way in dealing with issues of “race” relations, particularly as operational (observational) science has confirmed there is only one human race! And this is what God’s people should have always understood from the Bible anyway, as we are all descendants of one man and one woman—one biological race.

We are pleased to release my presentation for you to listen to or download free, entitled “One Race, One Blood.”

Here is an outline:
Answering the question: Where did Cain get his wife?
Basic genetics—dogs belong to one family. “Natural selection” and “speciation”—evidence against evolution.
Applying basic genetics to the human family.
Evolution has helped fuel a particular type of racism.
Research confirms one race genetically in humans.
The so called “racial” differences are insignificant—the main differences are cultural.
People groups—not racial groups.
The Tower of Babel helped form different cultural groups/people groups.
Understanding skin “color”—different shades, not different colors.
There is no “curse of Ham.”
Understanding “interracial” marriage.
Applying the correct understanding of human history to our everyday world.

Q: Is the date of Easter of pagan origin?

A: You may have heard the claim that Christians should not celebrate Easter because of its origins. Many believe that what we call Easter today was developed as Roman Catholicism co-opted pagan festivals celebrated in different regions in honor of various false gods and goddesses. The claims are laced with names of scholars who have made connections between the names of the festivals and goddesses, the timing of the celebration, and the symbols used.

Dear Ministry Partner

When we evangelise, we must go in power, not weakness – in my own weakness, yes, but in the power and the might of God. The Scripture says God's strength is made perfect in our weakness. When we are at our weakest, at our most fallible – God begins to work in us! And God can't begin to move in us until He breaks down what we are and what we have, until we are utterly and completely dependent on Him. God allows problems to come in order to drive us to prayer. It's when we are in our extremities of need that God steps in and takes over. While we have everything we need, we are strong only because of our own strength. Isaiah 48:10 says we are tried and chosen in the furnace of affliction and for His sake we are rescued.

Dear Ministry Partner

‘Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever' (Hebrews 13:8-9). ‘This is what the Lord says: If you can break My covenant with the day and the night so that one does not follow the other, only then will be My covenant be broken (Jeremiah 33:20-21).
